Localbird didn't begin as a startup idea – it began on a family trip to Hawaii.
Ben and Joseph, our founders were staying at a vacation rental when the usual Google searches stopped being helpful. They weren't looking for tourist traps; they wanted something real, the kind of experience only someone who lives there would know.
So they asked their host.
Instead of sending a link, he handed them a dusty, half-torn notebook filled with handwritten recommendations – real places, real people, local secrets that never make it online.
And in that moment, it clicked.
Hosts weren't just offering a place to sleep. They were holding a world of stories, insight, and connection – but had no easy way to share it.
That simple realization became the seed of Localbird.
